Reiki is the Japanese word for life‑force energy.
To practice Reiki is to enter the realm of the unseen, the realm of the immaterial from which the material is born.
We make this journey together and your part in it is three-fold:
- You intend to open yourself, your being, and welcome in life‑enhancing energy;
- You believe, or are willing to believe, that you are worthy of complete wellbeing and fulfillment — physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually;
- You create a fulfilled vision of yourself in your mind and you practice holding this vision for a few minutes every day.

My part is to psychically and physically support you in your journey.
I support you psychically by believing in your worth and visioning you well in all aspects of your life.
I support you physically with my presence, and by placing my hands over your body in the areas that correspond with your major energy processing vortexes (called chakras in the Hindu/Yoga traditions of ancient India). My intention is to act as a channel for life-enhancing energy so that during the session, the natural and on-going flow of energies into and out of your chakras is enhanced. (Alternatively, my hands can be placed on your body if that area is considered safe and neutral, like your shoulder for instance.)
Both of us intend together that this increased flow of life-affirming energy goes to where it is needed, and saturates all your cells and tissues so that they are able to operate with ease and joy to support your highest wellbeing. At the same time, we intend that we receive any insights as to what may be detracting from your complete wellbeing. This information may come as visions, or words or as feelings. It is important to write down the impressions and insights gained in an altered state because they tend to fade rapidly, the way dreams can.
My first hand placement is over your crown chakra (top of your head) for approximately three minutes. Then I move my hands to your sixth chakra, between your eyes, and this becomes our focus for the next three minutes. I continue the journey down to your toes, visiting each major chakra and some minor chakras in the arms and legs. I end at your feet. The treatment takes between 30 to 45 minutes.

What can I expect from my Reiki session?
Many people report feeling peaceful, relaxed and refreshed after a session. Some people experience strong emotions or physical sensations. Part of the process is to trust that what you have received is what you needed for this moment. During the session, or in the days following the session, there is often a heightened sense of wellbeing. Occasionally people report a temporary worsening of symptoms before feeling better. However, there is always a shift—usually subtle, sometimes profound—in the direction of you experiencing yourself as whole and complete.
I am thankful for the Reiki session Laura provided. The gentle touch of this healing session helped me to release tension, calm the mind, and restore a sense of balance and harmony within my body. I felt warm and lighter. For the rest of the day I carried a happy mood within me.
My tension headache has dissipated. I’ve released some tension and also recognize where I hold tension. I had time to reflect on what is holding me back emotionally.
As a person who had just days ago, been in a trauma response, Laura’s treatment felt like she helped me “time travel” to the present. When she first touched my foot I thought “Oh! I have a foot!” and I realized I was not at all in my body, other than in my foot now. At the end I was fully present. I could feel beautiful, loving, kind light flowing throughout my entire body.
I felt that I was in the presence of loving energy. I was surprised how relaxed and calm my throat area felt during the treatment (since usually I need to cough when I’m lying down).
